Aircraft Annual Inspections at KHWY

An aircraft annual inspection is the most important maintenance event in your ownership year. Done well, it confirms your aircraft is safe, identifies issues before they become emergencies, and gives you a clear picture of what to expect in the seasons ahead. Done poorly, it can leave you grounded — or worse, in the air with problems no one caught.

At SkyWorld Aviation, our annual inspections are built on disciplined processes, manufacturer-specific checklists, and the kind of attention to detail that only comes from technicians who genuinely care about the aircraft they're working on.

What's Included in a Skyworld Annual Inspection

Our annual inspections follow FAA Part 43 Appendix D requirements and the specific guidance issued by your airframe and engine manufacturers. Every annual includes:

Black circle with a white check mark icon

Lubrication per manufacturer checklists. Every grease fitting, every control surface hinge, every specified lubrication point — done correctly, in the right sequence, with the right product.

Comprehensive corrosion checks. Critical for the legacy aircraft we frequently service, many of which are 40 years old or older. We inspect the areas where corrosion hides, not just the ones easy to reach.

Airworthiness directive and service bulletin review. We verify compliance with all applicable ADs and review manufacturer service bulletins relevant to your aircraft.

Proactive Findings, Honest Communication

One of the most valuable parts of a SkyWorld annual is what happens when we find something. We don't bury issues, and we don't pile on unnecessary work to inflate the invoice.

When we identify a non-airworthy item, we tell you what we found, why it matters, and what your options are. When we identify items that are airworthy today but will need attention soon, we tell you that too — so you can budget for future repairs and avoid being stranded somewhere far from home.

This proactive approach is rooted in our own experience as aircraft owners. We know what it feels like to load the family and the dog into the airplane, only to have a starter fail before the flight. We work hard to make sure that does not happen to you.

Smart Parts Sourcing

When parts are needed, we don't default to the first new component we find. We evaluate options based on safety, reliability, availability, and cost. Sometimes that means a new OEM part. Sometimes it means a high-quality serviceable component that performs just as well for a fraction of the cost. The right answer depends on your aircraft, your mission, and your budget — and we'll explain the trade-offs so you can make an informed decision.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long does an aircraft annual inspection take at Skyworld?

A typical annual inspection at SkyWorld takes 2-4 days-(not weeks), depending on what we find during the inspection and the availability of any parts required. We'll communicate timeline expectations clearly from the start and may extend to 1-2 weeks depending on what is found.

  • What's the difference between an annual inspection and a 100-hour inspection?

An annual is required every 12 calendar months for all aircraft, regardless of number of hours flown. While a 100-hour inspection is required for aircraft used commercially or for flight instruction for every 100 hours flown. The scope of inspection is the same, but only an IA (Inspection Authorization holder) can complete and sign off an annual inspection.

  • Can Skyworld inspect older or legacy aircraft?

Yes. We regularly service aircraft 40 years old and older. Our technicians are experienced in identifying the corrosion, wear, and legacy-system issues that require special attention on older airframes.

  • What if you find something major during my annual?

We will contact you, explain what we found, walk you through your options, and provide a clear estimate before any additional work proceeds. You stay in control of the decisions about your aircraft.

  • Do you also perform pre-purchase inspections?

Yes. Pre-purchase inspections are one of our most valuable services for buyers who want a clear, independent evaluation before closing on an aircraft.
